Transition period for UK citizens in the Netherlands

The Dutch government has decided that UK citizens and their family-members who are legally residing in the Netherlands will be able to continue living in the Netherlands after the 29th March 2019 for 15 months in case of a no-deal Brexit. This decision will also be valid for family-members with an non-EU nationality.

The IND will send a a temporary residence permit to all UK citizens and their family-members  registered at a municipality. In the transition period of 15 months, the UK citizens will also be invited to apply for a permanent residence permit at the IND.

British citizens who would like to come to live, work and/or study in the Netherlands after Brexit will have to apply for a permit as a third-country national.
